The Institut français du Koweït supports linguistic cooperation and the projects of Kuwaiti partners concerning teacher training and teaching methods.

In addition, the French Institute in Kuwait offers short-term language internship scholarships in France. An association bringing together French-speaking Kuwaitis and graduates of French universities should be created in 2019.

University Cooperation

University cooperation aims to promote the attractiveness of the French territory by notably strengthening student mobility between the two countries. The Franco-Kuwaiti cooperation in the university field also has the mission of developing projects between Kuwaiti and French universities (research laboratories, courses offering double degrees, exchange programs).

Scientific culture and debates of ideas

The French Institute is developing numerous actions with local partners (museums, foundations, universities) on the theme of science. Each year, we thus support several projects to enhance the scientific and technological image and transmit scientific and technical knowledge to as many people as possible. The Institut français du Koweït also organizes debates on ideas in the form of conferences, seminars or forums. These debates are an opportunity to bring together intellectuals, researchers, journalists, major players in French and Kuwaiti civil society.

Mission

The Institut français du Koweït is the agency for the foreign cultural action of France in Kuwait.

As such, he is in charge of the implementation of French foreign cultural action in terms of dissemination, artistic exchanges and cooperation.

Franco-Kuwaiti cooperation in the cultural and artistic fields contributes to French cultural influence abroad but also and above all contributes to the mutual enrichment between our two countries. Our action covers all cultural and artistic disciplines: music, dance, visual arts, theater, heritage, archeology, architecture and debates of ideas; thus reflecting the diversity of French production and know-how.

Our cooperation is based on solid relationships forged with local cultural operators, whether institutional or private: National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (CNCAL), Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah cultural center, cultural center Bayt Lothan, CAP gallery, Kuwait music as well as with well-established LoYAC associations …

Since its creation on January 1, 2012, the Institut Français du Koweït has quickly established itself as a major player and partner in the Kuwaiti cultural and artistic scene by offering regular quality programming. In a cultural landscape in full effervescence, the French Institute of Kuwait ensures to carry out projects with all the actors of the cultural scene, institutional as private. These partnerships are at the heart of our action and aim to create lasting links between our two countries.

Cultural and artistic cooperation

In the artistic field, the activity of the French Institute of Kuwait aims to promote a better knowledge of French artistic creation and to intensify exchanges between professional circles of the two countries.

The Institute thus participates in the promotion of French artists in Kuwait through the organization of events (shows, concerts, exhibitions, conferences) and by promoting the programming of French / Francophone artists in major cultural events organized by the actors. local (Al Qurain Cultural Festival, Music Festival, Book Fair, Dar Al Athar Al Islamiyya Cultural Season…). The Institut Français du Koweït also contributes to the development of relations between French and Kuwaiti artists by producing Franco-Kuwaiti artistic creations.

Such projects also make it possible to forge real links between French and Kuwaiti artists and to ensure long-term exchanges.

Audiovisual Cooperation

Particular attention is paid to the audiovisual and film sector due to the potential that exists in this sector and the development of partnerships between French and Kuwaiti operators (Kuwait National Cinema Company, Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival ).

Kuwait has long been considered a pioneer in cinema and theater in the Gulf. After a slump, Kuwaiti cinema, carried by a new generation of directors, is experiencing a certain renaissance. The French Institute of Kuwait is supporting this development by concentrating its action around 4 priority axes:

Support for the commercial distribution of French films in Kuwait, and the distribution of Kuwaiti production in France
Cooperation in audiovisual training and professional specialization,
Support for the broadcasting of French programs (radio and television),
The dissemination of information intended for both French and Kuwaiti professionals.

The Institut francais du Koweït promotes contemporary French cinematographic creation to local operators and during the various events that it organizes during the year in partnership with local operators (Les Nuits du Cinéma Francais, Festival du court -movie of Kuwait, the nights of the French-speaking cinema on the occasion of the celebrations of the French-speaking world).

IFK also provides support to the new generation of Kuwaiti directors by developing audiovisual training and professional specialization programs and by promoting as much as possible the dissemination of Kuwaiti productions in France through festivals.

The Institut francais du Koweït provides support to the various media grouped within the Audiovisual Exterior of France (AEF) present in Kuwait (TV5 Monde, RFI Monde, France 24, Monte Carlo Doualia) by ensuring their promotion and visibility .
